Why do some stores use different logos?
It’s hard to pinpoint why a particular store name is chosen over another, but it’s likely because the brands were designed for different audiences, the people who will use the stores’ products.
That means they’ll have different branding, and thus different brands will appear at the same location.
Gimbels, for example, uses a logo for the Woolworths department store.
This logo, a stylized black cross, has become synonymous with the store and the products it sells, but the company didn’t intend for it to be the case.
“It was a decision to make a different look,” Gimbels CEO Mark Luscombe told the Business Insider in a phone interview.
For example, a company like Gimbel would normally use a color that reflects a theme or style of the store, such as a bright blue or yellow.
But Luscho says he chose a darker green for his brand, because he wanted it to feel more of a casual look.
“It really came down to that feeling we were trying to achieve with the branding of the brand,” he said.
“It was about what we were able to achieve for the customers.”
So what does this all mean for the stores themselves?
For example, if you go to the Walmart or Home Depot, you might see a logo that’s a little different than what they were used to.
But that doesn’t mean they’re bad brands.
