How does the new gimble department store benefit the economy?
A new department store has been launched in Dublin, but the Government’s plan to make it a reality will have a bigger impact than anyone realised.
The Government is planning to create 1,000 new jobs by 2020 with a total of 1,100 employees, including 300 people from Dublin.
The Government has also announced plans to make 1,400 more jobs available for the first time in its history.
It comes as part of the Government Spending Review, which is currently being carried out by the Department of Finance.
The new jobs are due to be created by the end of the year.
It will include an initial period of 150 people to oversee the design and building of the first store in the new scheme, which will then be followed by an initial 50 staff to oversee and maintain the business from its launch.
This will involve creating and managing a new brand identity and website and a dedicated website, which aims to provide visitors with easy access to the brand.
The first stores are expected to open in 2018.
The Department of Transport and the Gardaí are also due to undertake an initial study of the new concept and provide an initial report in the next few months.
The new scheme is part of a Government spending review, which includes the introduction of the €500bn Regional Development Plan and the introduction and maintenance of the National Transport Network.
