What we know about the deadly attack at Foley’s Department Store
The man who allegedly opened fire at a Colorado store, killing four and wounding six others before dying in a shootout with police, was described by authorities as a mentally disturbed man who had a history of domestic violence.
The Denver Post reported that Devin P. Holey, 23, was arrested after he allegedly used his service weapon to open fire at the Foleys department store in Colorado Springs, Colorado, early on Friday.
A gunman wearing a gas mask entered the store and opened fire, killing himself in the act, according to a statement from Colorado Springs police.
The shooting took place shortly after 10:30 a.m. local time (08:30 GMT).
It was the second shooting at the Colorado Springs department store, which is located in the town of Greeley, just south of Denver.
The gunman reportedly shouted, “I am avenging you,” the Denver Post said.
Holeys mother told ABC News that she and her daughter were at work when she heard the gunshots.
She was able to get into her car and drive away from the scene.
According to ABC News, Holey was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Colorado Springs authorities said they did not release the suspect’s name.
It was unclear how the shooting unfolded.
Holy’s father, a retired police officer, said his son was mentally ill.
“He’s not a violent person,” Greg Holey said.
“I’m not trying to sound like I’m some conspiracy theorist.

She told the Colorado Post that Holey had been diagnosed with ADHD, and that he was receiving therapy.
“Devin was a loving person, always happy, always laughing,” Holeys sister, Jessica DeLuca, told the Post.
“Just the fact that he did this is tragic.”
The department store is a popular tourist destination in the Colorado Rockies and was known for its “tourist-friendly” atmosphere.
The Associated Press reported that the gunman opened fire inside the store after an argument over an old video game system.
He also reportedly was carrying an AR-15 assault rifle.
