The oldest department store in India is being built by a company with ties to the BJP and the BJP-led government
The oldest branch of the oldest department stores in India has been built by an outfit that has links to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to a report by Times Now, the building is being constructed by a firm that has a large stake in a large conglomerate.
The name of the company is Zayre.
The firm is headed by former state BJP chief Kishan Gupta and is headed up by former finance minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The report says that the company has also been given land on which it is building a new branch of The Zayres department store.
The Zayrre department stores has a presence in all states in India.
The name of its flagship store, the first in India, dates back to 1851.
In 2017, the company was awarded the Bharat Ratna for its efforts to boost retail sales.
The Times Now report said that the building, in the old city of Varanasi, will cost about Rs 5,000 crore, which will come out of the existing budget of the state government.
